Telerehabilitation on Embodia

Embodia provides an in-house telerehab solution that allows running one-on-one consults (up to 120 minutes per consult). This solution is HIPAA and PIPEDA-compliant. For Tier 3 members (more info on our tiers here), you can also use Google Meet to run telerehab consults, including group consults.

Note: to use Google Meet for healthcare applications, consider signing a Business Associate Agreement with Google (more info here).

Once you're an Embodia Tier 3 Member, you can enable Google Meet on your account by clicking on Consults > My telerehab accounts and then Enable Google Meet:

This will enable Google Meet on your account, and you will be able to select it as the Telerehab account when scheduling a new consult.

The way Google Meet works is by providing a unique meeting URL for each "room". Participants that use the same meeting URL will join the same room. At this point, Google Meet is enabled as a Telerehab account, but the integration is not complete. You can:

  • Connect your Google Calendar and allow Embodia to automatically get the meeting URL from Google Meet (recommended).
  • Continue with the partial integration, and manually provide Embodia with the meeting URL from Google Meet.

Connect your Google Calendar and allow Embodia to automatically get the meeting URL from Google Meet

You can connect your Google Calendar to Embodia as outlined here. Once one or more calendars are connected to Embodia, you can then specify your "Primary" calendar by clicking on Mark as primary:

When you schedule a Google Meet consult through Embodia, Embodia will create a new event in your Google Calendar and obtain the meeting URL from the calendar event. Please note that obtaining the meeting URL can take a few moments.

Manually provide Embodia with the meeting URL from Google Meet

If you prefer not to connect your Google Calendar to Embodia, you can still schedule consults through Google Meet. However, you would need to manually provide Embodia with the meeting URL. If the meeting URL is not provided, you will not be able to start the consult from Embodia and your patients will not be able to join it.

The first step would be to obtain a meeting URL from Google Meet. From your Gmail account, click on the Meet icon > New meeting and then copy the generated meeting URL.

Once you have the meeting URL, go to the consult page on Embodia. You will see a warning saying that the meeting URL is missing. Click on the link in the notice and enter the meeting URL in the popup form.

When a meeting URL is provided (or automatically populated by Embodia), it will be displayed under the Start consult button. If you would like to change it, click on the edit icon and provide the new meeting URL in the popup form:
